Tube Light

This series of custom lights were designed for a San Francisco Italian restaurant.  The borosilicate glass tubes were hand blown by chemical glass beaker manufacturers in Berkeley and then sand-blasted by a local artisan.  Each tube was heated and deformed with a unique profile, creating a playful dialogue with the colorful Italian comic book illustrations. To soften the linear LED strip lighting, a secondary frosted tube was placed within the glass tube.  Each fixture is held in place by a steel armature which brackets onto the folded mirror and comic book ceiling.
