Silicone Valley

Studio Terpeluk was invited to participate in a paid competition with a select group of architects to design a significant family estate near Silicon Valley.  In deference to the magnificent oak trees, intense sunlight and natural breezes, the design manifests as a series of irregular parallel walls capturing the various house functions and framing a meandering network of outdoor courtyards.  In opposition to the large, multi-story homes in the area, this house is defined by a simple low and long horizontal silhouette set against the gentle convex contour of the land.
